What do you typically do in a boxing class?

Im thinking about joining a class, Im just wondering what would typically do in a boxing class for adults?

Basics,
Fitness 1st and foremost. We done (all gyms are a bit differant) upto 10 rounds of skipping then a run. This was mixed with the usaul excercisers aimed at the torso muscles. For example 5 rounds of 2mins skipping, a 15min run, a 10min situps, leglifts (on your back, legs strait, heels an inch off the ground, lift too 6inch then 12 and back. Ouch), etc.
Once the coach is happy with your fitness, you are taught how too punch, stance, move, etc. This invovles in the ring with a trainer with pads and working the bags. All going well you will then advance too sparring.
A wee hint is that if you turn up fit on your first time you will be "trained". If not— you wont.
My trainer ended up being the NZ olympic coach. So he must have been doing something right. LOL
Good luck.

What’s the best boxing class for my son?

He wants to be a boxer. He’s only 13, but is very fast with his hands and loves watching boxing.

There are several boxing classes you can find, and there aren’t really particular ones that stick out to me. I would try to get private boxing classes or if you can buy him some equipment for boxing and you at least understand the concept and rules of it you can teach him yourself and motivate him to get better and train him with the equipment…

I am 14 and currently 126 pounds 5 foot 7 inches. I Would love to have a successful season in boxing and was wondering how much weight I should cut for boxing. I am only about 9% body fat so the most I could drop is only 12-10 pounds but any tips would be helpful.

here are the weight classes for boxing if that helps you.

I am a kickboxer, and wrestler, and I weigh near as much as you, and I’m a Welterweight, so, I’m guessin’ Welterweight!

I’m 5’10” and 155-160lbs. I’m having a debate w/ some friends as to what weight class to enter for competition. I’m not sure where I would fit or if the MMA weight class would be any different than a boxing weight class?

Well most boxers walk around at their exact weights well MMA fighter usually cut down 10-20 lbs sometimes more.

In MMA I could see you fighting at featherweight or if you put on some serious muscle mass you could be a lightweight.

In boxing I you will probably be either a super welterweight or a junior middleweight depending on what boxing association you compete for.

Should I stop my kick boxing class and enrol in full boxing class?

I think I cannot handle the full kicks as I have thin legs, is shifting to boxing a good idea instead of kick boxing?

Stick with it for a couple of months, or talk first to your instructor and tell him your concerns. If I’m the instructor, i would watch over my new students esp. the kicking part, as they are students who CAN REALLY kick , and that could cause knee injury to the newbie. If the instructor is not concerned with you or to the new students, then look for another school, but continue with KB.

yeah still in class xD
