Can you overtrain in boxing?

This is my schedule

Monday – boxing training
Tuesday – boxing training
Wednesday – rest
Thursday – boxing training
Friday – MMA class
by the way MMA means mixed martial arts

There is an old saying that states if you over do it in the gym, you leave the fighter in there when it comes to fight time.

I remember one trainer saying – ‘ He left his stuff in the gym’

This means that the boxer put himself into the training matrix so much, that he was burnt out by the time he came into the ring.

    You could clarify that MMA stands for mixed martial arts as not everyone knows this.

    But I think you have a good resting period in between – Saturdays and Sundays are off I’m presuming.

    3 days is average for amateur boxing. Never any less than 2 days a week. Maybe you’ll have to make the choice between the noble art, and MMA.

    Yes. Like everything else, you need periods of rest and relaxation as overtraining can actually cause muscle weakness and fatique.
