Benefits of boxing training?
January 30th, 2010
I’m going to start boxing, and want to know what the benefits are. I’m also going to go to a MMA class once a week as well, is it a good combination?
The most obvious benefit of boxing is the fact that you become a better boxer. Your punching, punch defense, footwork, head movement, and cardio get better as a result. If you’ve never done anything like it before, it will also have the added benefit of instilling confidence and a sense of sportsmanship.
I’m not sure what an "MMA class" will include, but since MMA develops skills that are outside the boxing base, it should make you better prepared if you have to defend yourself outside of the ring.

Intensity – It must challenge both the aerobic and anaerobic systems.
# Strength gain – It must improve overall body strength.
# Injury free – It must provide intensity without battering muscles and joints.
# Calorie burn – It must help burn off any extra fat to help increase/maintain leanness.
# Variety – It must be challenging and non-boring.
# Mental toughness – It must help the athlete or fitness devotee learn to cope with difficult challenges in their primary activity.
Yes, it’s a good combination.
