ENTRPRENUERS …Starting a BOXING/MMA Training CENTER…Need Some Help.?

Alright, So i am trying to start a boxing training center – basically I want to have a decent sized gym with ‘possibly’ a ring…[depending on size, obviously].

my ideas for the layout would be something like;
A series of bags, spaced enough to give room to people hitting the bag
A Ring [for sparring/practice]
Cardio area [a few bikes/treadmills or something of that sort]
A small free weight area [for a simple arm workout/wrist work out, etc]
Padding on all floors and walls.

Now, I’m interested to hear some ideas or some way to write a business plan that really makes sense. I’d need some info such as since it will be a training center, there won’t be any ‘classes’, but maybe I would like to incorporate them for the beginners….

I’m really a little lost, but would love for some advice, someone who maybe wants to talk with KNOWLEDGE of either owning a real business or into the boxing business [this will be in new jersey]

try to think of it more this way.

do people in your area want/need a(nother) training centre?

not i’ll make a training centre and hope people come…

find out what people want and supply it.

Will kick boxing cause me to lose my boobs?

I am thinking of starting a kick boxing class, but I’m afraid too much cardio will make my boobs smaller. A friend of mine used to have C cups, and after starting a cardio routine, they became A cups. I’m only a B cup to start with, and I’m really afraid I’ll become an A or AA after starting this class. Is this something I should really be worried about?

I think you should be more worried about your physical health, rather than your boob size. There’s always pushup bras :]

Who enjoys boxing just for the fun of it?

I love backyard boxing and I take a weight training class at a local junior college. I take my boxing gloves with me hoping to find someone in class to box with. It is a good workout and stress reliever.

I enjoy boxing purely for the fun of it, though when I get in the ring in a competition then it’s a completely different story. Boxing with my buddies is for the fun since there is no money or fame at stake, ring action is when I have to get aggressive, I don’t wish to look like a smuck in front of a crowd and try my best to win the money. Did some backyard boxing with my friends on numerous occasions but sometimes it gets a little out of hand.

Private boxing training vs Group Classes?

I am currently looking for a boxing gym and have two options. The first Wild Card BC which has amazing trainers that only offer private training and Gio’s Brooklyn Boxing Gym which has a good rep in my area and offers 3 group classes per week. From your personal experience would I benefit more from once a week private training from highly reputable trainers or three group classes a week with some good trainers with decent backgrounds?

Gio’s Brooklyn BC – http://www.giosboxing.com/
Can some of you be original and not copy and paste? And please state a source such as some experience…. Otherwise what you say means nothing but the points you are trying to earn.
Can someone add some details instead of just saying 1 or the other for points?

From personal experience go with the more days a week. Just remember to always practice in your spare time cause that’s what will make you better

Does he need a certificate? uk pls?

My partners son has been ill all week and its now Friday which is the start day for my partner to have him for the weekend. His mum made a fuss that we couldn’t pick him up till tomorrow but then she went out to boxing class leaving him alone so we went to get him. She’s now been locked out and has made every excuse to get her son back home so she cam get back in the house. She has suddenly said he has a doctors appointment that she didn’t tell is about earlier…. She now says the doctors is because the school need a certificate to see he has been ill. He is 12 and not doing any exams or anything. He’s in his first year. Does this is also the first time he has been off school, before this week he had 100% attendance. Does he really need a certificate or is she lying. If he does then we will take him to get one

Technically in the world of work you would self certificate for the first week. A doctor cannot give a certificate if a person has not been seen recently by that doctor for that problem.
I doubt a school would actually require a doctor’s note. If the child had perfect attendance then it’s parent’s word would be enough. When I was at school a doctor’s note wasn’t required even when I was in hospital for several days, missing around 2 weeks of school in total.
Can you not send someone off with the sons key so she can get back in. If you leave her locked out she will be more unhelpful in the future.
Can you partner not take him the the doctor’s appointment or yourself? A father or step-parent is perfectly capable of taking a child to the doctors.

Both you and your partner should try and be as reasonable as possible to the mum. You don’t want the lad hearing all this.

I want to start boxing, how should I workout to get in shape?

I want to learn how to box/kickbox, but I want to get in shape before I start taking classes or anything. Right now my fitness level is pretty average, I’m definitely not an athlete but I’m also not one of those kids that starts wheezing after 5 minutes of running. What type of workouts should I include? Is there a good website (that’s free) I could use to help me make a workout plan? Oh, and I’m 16, and a girl, if that the workouts any different. Thanks so much!

Boxing Gyms. Make sure every night you jog for at least 45-60 minutes. Increases your stamina, which you will need.

does boxing make a girls arm and shoulder muscles big?

i am 16 have just started attending boxing fitness classes on a monday and wednesday. i do not actually fight against other people, in the actual class we do circuit training, such as skipping, treadmill, cross-trainer, bikes, punchbags, step ups, etc.

i am trying to lose a bit of weight and get toned up without having ‘big’ muscles and was wondering if all the hard punching would leave me with big muscles on my arms and shoulders?

thanks in advance

no not particularly. its just really good for your fitness. its loads of aerobic exercise which gets you sweating and your blood pumping, which is good. You’ll do tonnes of crunches which will make your tummy really toned aswell :) Your arms muscle to fat ratio will change, and you will get more muscle instead of fat…but you wont look like a bodybuilder

good luck, its tiring haha.
