I’M NOT FLAEXIBLE… and it’s EMBARRASSING!!?

I’m in this mandatory Cardio Kick Boxing Class at my school, and the other day we had to do that thing where you sit on the floor, and spread your legs out as far as you can, and for me that’s not far at all, but the other girls? Whoa! The this girl saw how I wasn’t doing it very wide, so she scooted over to me, and grabbed my hands, and made me bend over, and to stop when I felt the pain. When I bent over, I didn’t go far AT ALL! it was sooo embarrassing! How can I get flexible? Are there any technics (spelled wrong, I know)?
Sorry, I just noticed I spelled flexible wrong!

Yoga is EXCELLENT for flexibility – not to mention strength. It also relaxes you, it’s good for your joints, and improves your posture. I’ve done kick-boxing for 10 years, but I kept injuring my lower back.
I started doing Yoga to introduce something opposite to kick-boxing into my routine. It’s really helped!
Also (this is weird) I lost 20 pounds during the first 2 months I was doing Yoga. And, remember, I was doing kick-boxing for 10 years – I wasn’t "out of shape"!

I HIGHLY recommend

what boxing weight class (amateur and professional) would i be in?

February 28th, 2010

Posted by admin in amateur boxing classes | 6 Comments »

i am 151 pounds.

Depends, how much weight you gain or lose from boxing.

Here are the weight classes which you would most likely be in.This is all USA Boxing amateur weight classes, it’s different from pro weight classes.
Lightweight-132lbs
Light Welterweight-141lbs
Welterweight-152lbs

Pro weight classes:
lightweight-135lbs
Light Welterweight-140lbs
Welterweight-147lbs
Jr Middleweight-154lbs

That should be within your range. You will most likely be losing 5-10 lbs to make weight.

well i am a starter at this boxing gym and i have to go every tuesdays and thursdays.is this a good workout and is two times a week good?

As a starter, two days is fine, especially, if you’re doing it for exercise purpose. Over time you can gradually increase your workout time.

Is working out in other ways while training for a half-marathon recommended, ok, or bad?

I should start off by saying I am not a runner. I have looked at a helpful online training program that gives me guidelines about training for the chicago half-marathon. I like to run, but I also like to workout in other ways(boxing, ab workouts, step classes etc). Is doing these to supplement my training recommended, or would it be best to focus on running?

I’m a big supporter of cross-training. I love the half. It’s my favorite distance. But I have a foot issue. Instead of running 5-6 days I week, I now just run 3, swim 2 and weight train 1. My half time is much improved, my injuries are mute, and my overall health is better.

My runs are purposeful and focused: long slow, tempo mid-distance, and speed work.

Mix up your training with activities you love and running will never be a chore.

What will be your New Years Resolution?

Haters: "I hope all these fake MJ fans will leave and never come back blah blah blah." Feel free to tell me your real resolutions too :) No sarcasm.

Mine is that the MJ family stays tight and that we ask even more MJ questions. To all the haters who thought we’d be gone by now, stick this in your juice box and suck it.
Also, I’m gonna try to continue getting all A’s in my AP and Dual Credit classes.

"Thought to Ponder" of the day: Do lightning rods on churches show a lack of faith?

Bonus Jonas: Will you be taking advantage of Boxing Day?
It’s not a national holiday here in the US (mainly celebrated in Canada, UK, Australia, and some others), but it’s the day after Christmas when you can go shopping and almost everything is on sale. It’s kind of like Black Friday after Thanksgiving. It has another reason, but who cares? We don’t officially celebrate it here anyway, we just go shopping for the sales!

Oh, Billie Jean. I’ll never leave as long as you’re around! (:

I don’t know… maybe, MAYBE try to be nicer.

What is classed as too much or overtraining when it comes to fitness?

Taking inspiration from Bruce Lee’s ‘The Art of Expressing the Human Body’ book, and motivation from my current fitness state and also from the fact I’ve dreamed of it for years, I basically want to create the perfect me in terms of fitness. I have begun planning my fitness dream with ultimate goals being: To be happy with my body and mind; health and well being; and fighting ability (to be used as self-protection and maybe take boxing up seriously). With specific aims being: Boxing, Muscle and Strength gain, Cardiovascular fitness, and Flexibility.

Now it has been stated that Bruce Lee over-trained and from reading the book it seems obvious to me that he pushed his body to the limits, maybe even beyond the limits. I also believe it is possible, since it was a heart problem, this over-training was what killed him. Now what I want to know is, how far can we push ourselves? How much physical exercise can we put our body through? What do they class as ‘too much’ when it comes to exercise and fitness? What do you think of my plan, is it a little heavy? I haven’t been a very active person over the last five years or so spending most of my time in front of a computer and I am not going to be going all out immediately.
By the way, the weight training is for muscle gain and the cardio for fitness and health; I do not want to lose fat. I weight less than 10 stone, I want go gain some size.

to keep this short and to the point when it comes to exercise… too much over training is more then 60 mins of weight lifting daily..
and more then 90 mins of cardio daily

and in regards to brucelees death.. we shall never know what really caused it..it could have been ab brain hernia, or some say it was even a ancient family curse.. as look what happened to his son brandon lee.. how odd and rare was that!?

Do you know where I can take boxing classes in Seoul?

It would be nice if they spoke English, but it doesn’t really matter.

Actually, boxing is written "??" in Hangul.
We also use the Korean word "??".
Anyway, boxing gyms are mostly meant to be males and the coaches and the trainers do not speak English.

My advice is going to a big, fancy gym where you can take gx classes including yoga, pilates, kickboxing and etc.
The trainers usually speak English some degrees.
